Carey Mulligan cast as Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby

Baz Lurhman has released this photo of British actress Carey Mulligan in rehearsals as Daisy Buchanon opposite Leonardo Di Caprio playing Jay Gatsby.  Lurhman's films and Opera direction (he did Midsummer Nights Dream and La Boheme for Sysdey Opera House) are known for their lush style so hope fully the costumes won't disappoint.  My bet is on his wife Catherine Martin who designed the costumes for Moulin Rouge to do the costumes for this production.  The film comes out in 2011 and I predict many 20's inspired catwalk styles in Spring/Summer 11- can't wait.

Jean Paul Gaultier Corset

I am obsessed with the corset featured in the new Jean Paul Gaultier ad's-  which I imagine was made for Gaultier by Mr Pearl.

Period Corsets

I've recently discovered Period Corsets after they designed a corset for a recent Madonna tour. The business is run by two  very dedicated former costume wardrobe managers for the theatre designers and features a demo of the different shapes of corsets which evolved over time.

My favourite is this 1912 inspired 'Edith' underbust corset with a long line silhouette.
